According to a Korean tech news website called The Elec, Apple is developing a 20-inch display. Though its exact purpose is unknown, speculation is that it is meant for a device similar to a MacBook or MacBook Pro.

There is no set manufacturing timetable for this project, which may just be one of Apple's many technological or patent exercises. Nevertheless, according to sources, the Cupertino, California-based company plans to release 20-inch foldable devices between 2026 and 2027. When the display is fully stretched, the hardware, which is being created in collaboration with a South Korean business (perhaps Samsung or LG), measures 20.25 inches.

The Elec believes there is a strong probability that the project's offspring will look like a MacBook computer. That is intended to make the 20.25-inch display's folded size 15.3 inches. The form factor of the new display is compatible with the display sizes of the current Apple MacBooks, which range from mid-to-upper 10 inches, and iPad tablets, which range from just under 10 inches to low 10-plus inches.

Apple's goal to first increase and solidify the usage of OLED screens across all of its IT products before delivering foldable variations is cited as the rationale for the predicted arrival in 2026–2027. The 20-inch folding display, though, may be merging with other Apple patents, such as morphing touchscreen keyboards. In any scenario, it would be a big change for MacBook users and presumably encounter a lot of opposition, especially from those who prefer the responsiveness, tactility, and productivity of physical keyboards.
