A scientific investigation has shown that POTATOES can aid with weight loss. Scientists discovered substituting lower-calorie potatoes for meat can increase weight reduction "with minimal effort." No matter how many calories are in the dish, they said that after a certain number, individuals usually feel satisfied. And after eating potatoes instead of higher-calorie meals, survey participants from the US reported feeling "fuller quickly."

Despite being rich in nutrients, potatoes have also been linked to a higher risk of type 2 diabetes and insulin resistance, but the study proved this to be untrue. The main finding of our study, according to Professor Candida Rebello of the Pennington Research Centre in Louisiana, is that adding potatoes to meals reduced their calorific content rather than reducing their portion size.

When some of the meat was replaced with potatoes, the participants felt fuller sooner and frequently did not even finish the meal. It takes little effort to reduce weight.

Researchers put 36 overweight, obese, or insulin-resistant individuals between the ages of 18 and 60 on meals that either comprised beans, peas, meat, fish, or white potatoes with meat or fish.

About 40% of their regular meat diet was replaced with beans, peas, or potatoes. We demonstrated that, contrary to widely held beliefs, potatoes had no negative effects on blood glucose levels, the professor added. The participants felt filled more quickly and often did not even complete the meal when some of the meat was substituted with potatoes. To lose weight, minimal effort is required.
